EZ.RC // Cardiff Half Marathon 2025

October marks the biggest weekend in the Cardiff running calendar, and this year’s Cardiff Half Marathon 2025 was one for the books.

EZ.RC has never been about races or competition, but when we realised that over 140 of our community were taking part this year, it was a no brainer that we needed to do whatever we could to support them. So we reached out to some of our key partners and together we were able to plan a full weekend of activities, meet ups and celebrations and we’re so thankful for all their support in making it one to remember.

Building to the Big Day

We turned our usual Sunday social runs into an eight-week structured training plan, helping members gradually build distance, fitness, and confidence. For many, this would be their first race experience, and being able to train, test pacing, and share the experience (and the nerves) with others made all the difference.

Running 21km can be intimidating, but doing it alongside people who are all going through it together, that’s what EZ.RC is all about.

Shaking it out with Puresport

They say every good race weekend kicks off with a Shake-out run. Ours came to life thanks to our hydration partners Puresport, who supplied the goods with plenty of electrolytes to fuel us for the weekend. And the team at Full Fat Social, who let 100 over excited runners arrive at 9am on a Saturday morning, with more chat about heart rates and fuelling plans than should be allowed before breakfast.

What was planned as a relaxed 5km around the barrage, could have turned into a few unintentional PBs with gale force tailwinds pushing us home.

Race Day: A City That Never Disappoints

The energy in Cardiff City Centre for any sporting event is always electric and this Sunday was no different. Hearing the ‘Gwlads’ of the national anthem bellowing out from the crowds, whilst standing in your pen like a sardine staring up at the towering walls of the castle, is a pretty unforgettable scene. It’s the kind of atmosphere that gives you a nervous excited knot in the pit of your stomach (at least I hope that was nerves and not a third toilet break)

Then you cross that start line, and the next 21km are a blur of sweat, excitement, energy, maybe some regret, but huge pride. Every street is lined with crowds, friends and family, strangers with signs, kids handing out sweets and just as you start to question your life choices (roughly around mile 11), you see the EZ.RC flags waving, music pumping and you remember you’ve spent the last 8 weeks training for when things get hard (that and also you paid to do it, so you really have nobody to blame but yourself.)

Which let’s be honest, is just the push you need to get up Fairoak Hill and through that final stretch.

Raise a Glass

In true EZ style, we couldn’t round off the weekend without raising a glass to everyone’s incredible achievements and this pretty amazing community. Thanks to On The River for hosting quite the party and delivering plenty of post-race fuel and a concerning amount of tequila shots.

Also, who knew we all owned clothes other than running shorts and EZ vests?

We may be a Cardiff based community but it was pretty special to be able to share our city and the EZ post-race vibes with the crew from Athlx run club in Cologne.

Feels like a German exchange programme incoming…..

More Than Just a Race

The Cardiff Half Marathon is always a special weekend, but this year felt extra powerful.

To every single runner, supporter, and sideline hero who made the weekend what it was. Thank you!

Whether it was your first, your last, for fun, for fitness, a PB or a fight to the finish, it’s a massive achievement and one we’re so proud to have shared with you.

We may be done and dusted for another year, but normal services will resume. So we’ll see you on the track, at the coffee shop, or somewhere around Cardiff’s run routes.

Look Pro, Run Slow.
